••• You should recognize and know "and use" God's Hebrew Name! It is יהוה and sounds like to English speakers... God Himself wrote with his own finger on stone tablets He then gave to Moses. (Exo 31:18) Using the Diving Name of our Creator is a uniting force in this divided world! •••

Jeremiah 50:35-40 GNB The LORD  (יהוה) says, "Death to Babylonia! Death to its people, to its rulers, to its people of wisdom. (36) Death to its lying prophets--- what fools they are! Death to its soldiers--- how terrified they are! (37) Destroy its horses and chariots! Death to its hired soldiers--- how weak they are! Destroy its treasures; plunder and loot. (38) Bring a drought on its land and dry up its rivers. Babylonia is a land of terrifying idols that have made fools of the people. (39) "And so Babylon will be haunted by demons and evil spirits, and by unclean birds. Never again will people live there, not for all time to come. (40) The same thing will happen to Babylon that happened to Sodom and Gomorrah, when I destroyed them and the nearby towns. No one will ever live there again. I, the LORD  (יהוה), have spoken.

Jeremiah 50:35-40 LITV A sword is on the Chaldeans, states Jehovah  (יהוה), and on those living in Babylon, and on her rulers, and on her wise men. (36) A sword is on the liars, and they shall become fools; a sword is on her mighty men, and they shall be broken. (37) A sword is on his horses and his chariots, and to all the mixed people in her midst. And they shall become as women. A sword is to her treasuries, and they shall be robbed. (38) A drought is on her waters, and they shall be dried up. For it is the land of idols, and they boast themselves in idols. (39) So the beasts of the desert shall dwell there with jackals. And the daughters of the ostrich shall dwell in her again. And it shall not again have anyone in it forever; it shall not be lived in until generation and generation. (40) As God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighbors, states Jehovah  (יהוה), so no man shall live there, nor shall a son of man stay in it.

Jeremiah 50:35-40 GW "A sword will kill the Babylonians and everyone who lives in Babylon," declares the LORD  (יהוה). "A sword will kill their officials and their wise men. (36) A sword will kill the false prophets. They will become fools. A sword will kill their soldiers and defeat them. (37) A sword will kill their horses, their chariots, and all the foreigners within their ranks. They will become women. A sword will destroy their treasures, and they will be looted. (38) A drought will diminish their water supply, and it will dry up. Babylon is a land of idols, statues that will go crazy with fear. (39) That is why desert animals will live with hyenas. Desert owls will also live there. It will no longer be inhabited or lived in for generations. (40) Babylon will be like Sodom, Gomorrah, and their neighboring cities when I, God, destroyed them. No one will live there. No human will stay there," declares the LORD  (יהוה).

Jeremiah 50:35-40 CEV I have declared war on you, your officials, and advisors. (36) This war will prove that your prophets are liars and fools. And it will frighten your warriors. (37) Then your chariot horses and the foreigners in your army will refuse to go into battle, and the enemy will carry away everything you treasure. (38) Your rivers and canals will dry up. All of this will happen, because your land is full of idols, and they have made fools of you. (39) Never again will people live in your land-- only desert animals, jackals, and unclean birds. (40) I destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah and the nearby towns, and I will destroy Babylon just as completely. No one will live there again.

Jeremiah 50:35-40 ESV "A sword against the Chaldeans, declares the LORD  (יהוה), and against the inhabitants of Babylon, and against her officials and her wise men! (36) A sword against the diviners, that they may become fools! A sword against her warriors, that they may be destroyed! (37) A sword against her horses and against her chariots, and against all the foreign troops in her midst, that they may become women! A sword against all her treasures, that they may be plundered! (38) A drought against her waters, that they may be dried up! For it is a land of images, and they are mad over idols. (39) "Therefore wild beasts shall dwell with hyenas in Babylon, and ostriches shall dwell in her. She shall never again have people, nor be inhabited for all generations. (40) As when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah and their neighboring cities, declares the LORD  (יהוה), so no man shall dwell there, and no son of man shall sojourn in her.

You will note the reference windows often include more than one translation of the Bible. The reason is to strive to gain the best possible understanding of the original Hebrew and Greek. Since we don't speak those languages, we rely on those who have come before and made the effort to translate those texts into English for us. Considering several translations gives the benefit of the understanding of several translation committees or individuals.
